Research Coordinator

Mauricio Alvarez joined Measures for Justice in 2018. As a Research Fellow, Mauricio has worked on reviewing and standardizing data from courts and prosecutor’s offices in Missouri, New York, California, and other states for use in MFJ’s Data Portal and Commons sites. He also works on training and documentation to help onboard new hires and interns to standard research  team procedures at MFJ.
Mauricio received his PhD in Interdisciplinary Social Psychology from the University of Nevada, Reno in 2018. where his research focused on the impact of defendants’ individual characteristics (religion, class, immigration status) on juror’s decision making. Prior to joining MFJ, he worked on research and grant application development at the Grant Sawyer Center for Justice Studies at the University of Nevada, Reno, and was a lecturer for the Sociology and Psychology departments at the State University of New York at Brockport.
